With tourism in Southeast Asia rebounding, cultural and tourism exchanges between China and Vietnam are becoming more frequent. Recently, Vietjet Air invited media outlets from Beijing and Guangzhou to join a familiarization trip from Hanoi to Ha Long Bay, highlighting its network expansion and passenger services in aviation between the two countries.

Vietjet Air, the first private airline in Vietnam, operates domestic and international routes across the Asia-Pacific region and is known for its low-cost model. In recent years, the airline has expanded its presence in the Chinese market. In April this year, two C909 aircraft wet-leased from Chengdu Airlines were launched on the Hanoi–Con Dao–Ho Chi Minh route, marking the start of Chinese commercial aircraft operation in Vietnam and reflecting new trends in China–Southeast Asia aviation cooperation.
Vietjet Air has launched direct flights from major Chinese cities including Guangzhou, Beijing, and Shanghai, to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. The flight time from Guangzhou to Hanoi is approximately two hours, making Vietnam a popular choice for short-haul air travel among tourists from southern China. To cater to mid- and high-end independent travelers, the airline offers its SkyBoss service on major routes, which includes dedicated Priority check-in and access to a luxury lounge to enhance the overall travel experience.
Northern Vietnam boasts abundant tourism resources, with Hanoi and Ha Long Bay among the top destinations favored by Chinese tourists. Hanoi, a city rich in history and culture, Blends French and local elements. Landmarks such as Ba Dinh Square and the Temple of Literature, along with the hustle and bustle of the Hanoi Old Quarter and the Hoan Kiem Lake night market, create a distinctive urban charm. Visitors can try their hand at pottery in Bat Trang ceramic village and enjoy local dishes like Vietnamese baguettes and pho at the night market. Ha Long Bay, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, features a stunning seascape with over a thousand limestone islands. Attractions such as Thien Cung Cave and Fighting Cock Islet leave a lasting impression.
A representative from Vietjet Air stated that the airline will continue to offer diverse travel options for Chinese passengers through its direct flight network and cost-effective services. As cross-border tourism gains popularity, the short-haul travel to Vietnam is expected to keep growing. Meanwhile, competition among airlines is shifting toward more refined strategies. Striking a balance between low-cost operations and layered customer needs, and optimizing route networks to improve passenger loyalty, has become a key focus in the industry.
